more teeny weeny block prints

I’ve been diving right into making these teeny block prints since treating myself to my new art supplies; I’m currently on #7 & #8 as I write.

Something rad is happening since starting a new art form: my imagination is picking back up (I missed you wandering brain!) This new way of approaching an idea has been exciting and a challenging exercise in composition.

Ahhh, a fresh day at the shop. As you know, I make art on my lunch breaks and decided to make a stamp for my creative time. Making a mini block print is so engaging time flies and, honestly, it is hard to get back to reality. I’d have it no other way ◡̈

The print I made in the first image of this post was basically a line drawing. I didn’t intend for that to be the outcome and laughed at myself for not thinking it through. In block printing you have to think in positive and negative only. It is backwards from how I’ve made art up until now!

So for the lunch break block print I approached the skull again, this time reversing the positive and negative space so I could show the hollows of the eyes and nose as black. I’m stoked with how it turned out.

Blam!
