I challenged myself to a make a story in one image for my next block print. This bad boy was made in four different carvings on three erasers.
One of the erasers was carved more like a stamp: one broad side for three small carvings and a thin side for another small carving. In this case I was making ketchup.

This baby took two storyboards to make! I love this idea and want to find more “stories” to tell in one image using multiple erasers.
Look at this little gem of art I made. Adorbs.

wait. I need to take us on a side quest:
Oh my fucking goodness. I am a terrible speller and over my lifetime I have battled with embarrassment to the lengths of silencing my voice in writing and simplifying my vocabulary. As I am typing this my phone corrected my spelling from katchup to ketchup. In my storyboard for this most recent block print I spelled ketchup wrong the entire time.
Honestly, it is exhausting to constantly fear scrutiny, misunderstanding, or being passed over because of my life long struggle with the mechanics of writing. As I’ve come to my midlife and learning to find compassion for myself, I realize my struggles with spelling and grammar come from two main sources: access to education and a silent and undiagnosed learning disability.
The expectations of neurotypicality is so limiting. Those of us with spicy brains are over here making black katchup squirting onto neon pink hotdogs. Fuck yeah.
