I finished my first book of the year! Since the start of the new year, I made a commitment to myself to follow my child glee and try the things I’ve always wanted to. This year so far I’ve decided to follow three particular interests: linocut, zines, and writing.
As you’ve seen, I’ve got a great start going on linocut by starting with Pink Pearl Eraser block printing.

As for writing, I am taking my first class – stream of consciousness writing led by good friend Josh! This is a class particular for performance art expression, I think performance art would work well with the kind of person and artist I am, but for now, I am enjoying the writing.

And that leaves us here with the third; to write my first zine. Which is what the first book of the year is about.

I was telling some frame shop buds about my newest quest and they were shocked I’d not written many zines at this point. How nice of them to give me that kind of confidence.
I’m still searching for what I want to write about, but I’ve got some good ideas brewing. Ha! After reading this book, I may as well just make them all!
What’s funny about all three of these seemly different ideas I am following is how they will actually all benefit one another!
My writing class will benefit the writing of the zines (obviously); block printing will boost visual interest in the zine; the zine will help get the word out about my creative work! (Perhaps a performance art show?!? It is exciting to think of performing, but wouldn’t that be amazing?!)
